Connacht director of coaching Eric Elwood is hoping to end a seven-game losing streak this Friday against Italian side Benetton Treviso at the Sportsground(7.30pm).
Connacht have not won since mid-September’s 17-13 win over Newport Gwent Dragons and a series of difficult opponents and frustrating displays in both the RaboDirect PRO12 and the Heineken Cup has seen Elwood’s side slip down the table but Elwood is determined to get another tick in the wins column this week.
“There are games every week now so you need to take the lesson from one and correct it for the next, so all our attention now is on Treviso next week,” said Elwood.
“Treviso will be anxious to hit back after losing to Leinster. They’re a tough outfit but we will just have to front up to the challenge and put this one behind us,” added Elwood, whose side defeated the Italians 11-9 on the opening weekend of the season.
Suspension sees Mike McCarthy miss out, while Michael Swift (knee), Dylan Rogers (bicep) and Miah Nikora (shoulder) are all doubtful to face the Italians.
“We will wait and see if the guys will be fit for Friday, ever day is crucial to their recovery,” said Elwood
