Everton have confirmed they are interested in Greek defender Kostas Manolas.
David Moyes’ team have seen a host of player leave in the last twelve months, but the Toffees are yet to re-invest the transfer fees in the squad.
Diniyar Bilyaletdinov looks certain to join Spartak Moscow in the coming days, while Mikel Arteta, Jermaine Beckford, Joseph Yobo, Yakubu and James Vaughan have all left in the past twelve months.
Moyes has since brought in Royston Drenthe, Denis Stracqualursi and Eric Dier on loan, with James McFadden and Marcus Hahnemann joining on free transfers. Landon Donovan has signed on loan, while Darron Gibson joined Everton for a knockdown priced earlier in the month.
Manolas is a 20 year old defender who is believed to have a £3m minimum fee release clause in his contract. A financial crisis has hit AEK Athens, however, and Everton may be able to sign him for a lower price.
The defender has three U21 caps for Greece and has yet to be capped for the senior squad.
