The Irish Paracycling Squad started Rome’s UCI Paracycling Road World Cup in fine style on Friday with two podium places.
Mark Rohan won the HC1 time trial race with a time of 26’17.89 – just 1.91 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.
Also claiming a medal were female tandem pairing Catherine Walsh and Fran Meehan. The girls secured silver in their time-trial, which was won by Canada. Ireland’s second female tandem pairing Katie-George Dunlevy and pilot Sandra Fitzgerald finished in ninth place to secure their first road top-ten placing.
Elsewhere, the Irish squad performed creditably in their respective Time Trial races:
Fourth for Colin Lynch in the Male C2
Sixth Place by James Brown & Damien Shaw in the Men’s Tandem
Seventh place for Cathal Miller in the Male C5 category
Eleventh Place for Enda Smyth in the Male C3 category
