Guineas gamble continues apace

Updated: April 3, 2012

The gamble on Most Improved continued on Tuesday with most bookmakers cutting the Brian Meehan trained colt into 9/2 for the first colts classic of 2012.

Iraj Parvizi’s colt has been as big as 20/1 two weeks ago and could have been backed at 7/1 seven days ago but such is the confidence behind the colt that Coral cut his odds to 9-2 (from 6).

David Stevens from Coral said “Most Improved ended his juvenile campaign with a close third in the Dewhurst, but the support we’ve seen for him suggests he may well have lived up to his name over the winter, and he has replaced Top Offer as the closest challenger to long-time ante-post favourite Camelot”.

Brian Meehan said of the colt on Tuesday “He continues to please and after today you can say I’m gaining in confidence for his important objectives.”

Most Improved was last seen finishing a narrow third behind Parish Hall and Power in the Dewhurst at Newmarket.
