Irish jockey Cathy Gannon is facing a number of months on the sidelines after she broke her leg this afternoon at Nottingham.
The incident occured before the start of the two year old maiden race, when Gannon was unshipped from the Paul Green-trained Forever Janey. The jolt threw Gannon to the ground where she sadly suffered the injury.
Confirming the news of the leg break Gannon said “My right femur is fractured and I’ve got to have an operation – it will either be tonight or tomorrow.
“I will be out until after Christmas and the doctors say it could be as long as three months. The filly just jinked and I had no chance of staying on. I was having a great season but these things happen.”
Up until now Gannon had been enjoying productive season in England where she had ridden 56 winners thus far from 610 mounts.
