Irish Long Course Swimming Season Kicks Off 03.02.2011

The Dave McCullagh Memorial long course (50m) Gala which gets underway tomorrow at the UL Arena, Limerick is the first long course National competition of the swimming season.

The competition runs from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th February and is the first opportunity for Irish swimmers to gain qualification for the International summer meets – Celtic Tri Nations, European Junior Championships, World long course Senior Championships, European Youth Olympic Festival, World University Games and World long course Junior Championships.

Amongst those competing this weekend will be Olympian Aisling Cooney, European Junior medalist Sycerika McMahon and World Championship squad member Karl Burdis.
