Cork City FC have agree a new contract with Brian Lenihan, which sees the midfielder commit himself to the club until the end of the 2014 season.
Brian, who signed for the club in June from College Corinthians, recently made his debut at Under 19 level for the Republic of Ireland, and was recently called up to the squad for the UEFA Under 19 Championships Qualifying Round.
Speaking to CorkCityFC.net, Lenihan said: “I have enjoyed my time at Cork City so far and I am pleased to have agreed a new contract. Since coming to the club I have had a couple of chances in the first team and have also been called up to the international squad, so I am delighted to have signed.”
Cork City manager Tommy Dunne said he was pleased that Lenihan had committed his future to the club, saying: “In fairness to Brian he has done quite well since he has come in and he is now in the first team group. It has been quite a quick transition for him, and we are delighted that he wanted to sign for the club and be a part of the future of this club. He is a young, ambitious player who is hungry to succeed in the game, and we see him as an integral part of the future of this club.”
Lenihan has also been selected for the Republic of Ireland Under 19 squad for the forthcoming UEFA U19 Championships Qualifying Round to be held in Luxembourg between Thursday October 11th and Tuesday October 16th.
