John Joe Nevin lost his first bout in the WSB Series when he was beaten by Italian bantamweight Vittorio Parrinello in the competition last night.
Nevin, who was aiming to make it four wins in a row for Paris United, lost on a 2-1 majority decision. Thomas McCarthy, who signed with Milan recently, was also defeated as he lost out on points to the unbeaten heavyweight Ludovic Groghue. However his team still won the match 3-2 to move level on points with Paris at the top of the WSB European group.
Meanwhile, David Oliver Joyce, from the St Michael’s Athy BC produced a magnificent performance on his WSB debut to win a unanimous decision over Russian lightweight Adlan Abdurashidov. The latter had been unbeaten in the WSB going into the fight. Joyce’w victory helped his Istanbul side to a home win over Moscow’s Kremlin Bears.
