Galway’s Padraic Joyce has committed himself to the senior panel for another season.
The 34 year old is a former Footballer of the Year and has won two All-Ireland titles in his career.
The forward has been slowed by injuries in recent seasons, however.
Joyce met with new manager Alan Mulholland last week and confirmed he will continue for at least one more season.
Talking to the Independent, Joyce said: “I am more than likely going to return at this stage. The injury cleared up before Christmas.
“It had been giving me trouble, but I’ve been doing plenty of rehab and training on my own.”
Galway began their league campaign with a four point victory against Derry at the weekend.
