Justin McNulty’s Laois side continued their unbeaten start to their league campaign with an impressive away victory over Derry at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon.
The visitors led from the outset and proved far too strong for the disappointing home side..
Nine Laois players got their names on the scoresheet as the midlanders showed some excellent accuracy in front o the posts. Paul Cahillane’s goal had McNulty’s men leading by 1-9 to 0-4 at half-time.
Laois continued to impress after the break, with defender Darren Strong contributing 3 points to his sides tally.
Derry lost Declan Mullan to a red card in the 42nd minute, and a late penalty goal from Paddy Bradley (1-3) was merely a consolation score.
Laois manager Justin McNulty was at pains afterwards to play down his side’s dominance:
“We just had one of those days when everything went right while Derry had one where everything went wrong. I wouldn’t read too much into it”.
