Leinster forward Tom Denton has been banned from playing rugby for six weeks, as a result of dangerous tackle against Cardiff Blues last weekend.
Following an independent RaboDirect PRO 12 Disciplinary Committee meeting, the decision to ban the lock forward was announced. The committee said that aggravating factors including the need for a deterrent for the type of offence and the player’s recent disciplinary record, meant he was hit with a six-week ban rather than a four-week suspension.
The player is now suspended from all rugby until midnight on Sunday 24 March.
