Kenny Dalglish has been warned by Newcastle boss Alan Pardew not to chase centre back Fabricio Coloccini when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Liverpool raided the North East club already with the signings of Andy Carroll and Jose Enrique and now the Argentine centre back is the latest Reds target. Pardew has insisted he wants to keep hold of Coloccini despite reported interest from Liverpool.

The Argentina captain has one year left at St James Park on his current contract but Pardew is confident of keeping hold of the defender.

“Liverpool like looking at our players, don’t they?

“He’s been outstanding for us as a captain and a player and we’re in negotiations with him on a new contract.”

The 29 year old has been one of the reasons why Newcastle have started the season so well
