Martin Sludden Won’t Ref This Weekend

Controversial referee Martin Sludden is not named among the 16 referees who will take charge of the first round of football league matches this weekend.

Sludden has only refereed one inter-county game this season but he is part of the panel of referees that will take charge of league matches.

The Tyrone official was at the centre of controversy in last year’s Leinster final when he allowed a Meath goal by Joe Sheridan to stand, despite the fact it was clearly a square ball.

Sludden has been back in action in Tyrone club games and recently took charge of the McKenna Cup tie between Antrim and Armagh.
