Mayo coach to join Fitzmaurice at Kerry

Updated: September 25, 2012

A key member of James Horan’s coaching staff, conditioning expert Dr. Cian O’Neill is set to join Eamonn Fitzmaurice at Kerry next year.

The Irish Examiner is reporting that a deal has been agreed in principle between O’Neill and Fitzmaurice as the Lixnaw man builds his backroom staff in the Kingdom.

O’Neill was part of the Tipperary hurling management team under Liam Sheedy which won the Munster championship, National League and 2010 All-Ireland.

O’Neill will be seen as a big loss in Horan’s backroom team after joining from Tipp last year, while his arrival at Kerry will end Donie Buckley’s chances of returning to the county’s management team.
