Monaghan 0-19 Galway 0-14

Monaghan came from behind to beat Galway in their opening NFL tie at Clones.

Galway began the stronger and had seven players on the scoresheet by half-time. Eddie Hoare and Sean Armstrong led the scoring as the visitors held a 0-10 to 0-09 lead.

But new Monaghan boss Eamonn McEneaney must have been pleased with his players’ second-half display.

Finlay, Dick Clerkin and Conor McManus all improved after the restart, and substitute Conor Galligan played very well at half-back.

Monaghan finished the stronger and claimed the points.
