Trainer Paul Nicholls has revealed that blood tests confirm that Kauto Star showed signs of inflammation, and a low grade infection in the aftermath of Saturday’s surprise King George defeat.
On his twitter feed, Nicholl’s said that the horse will be on a weeks course of antibiotics and will be given a few easy days with doing very much work. He concluded by stating that he would issue an update again on Friday.
Kauto Star was bidding to make racing history at the weekend when he attempted to win the 3mile chase at Kempton Park for the fifth successive year. In the event,he could only manage third place behind impressive winner, Long Run. However, Kauto Star never jumped with his usual fluency and was in trouble well before the turn in.
