Our Girl Sally misses Cheltenham

The Cheltenham dreams of small Co Wicklow trainer, Prunella Dobbs have been dealt a crushing blow with the news that stable star, Our Girl Sally has been ruled out of the festival after scoping badly on Tuesday morning.

The mare had been unbeaten this season and connections held high hopes of putting it up to hot favourite, Quevega in next Tuesday’s David Nicholson Mares Hurdle. Despite a disappointing performance when just getting home in front at Fairyhouse last time, the mare had put up a great performance at Leopardstown over Christmas and held place prospects at the very least.

Dobbs said: “It’s very disappointing as we’d hoped she’d run a big race. We’ll freshen her up and see what races there are for her at Fairyhouse next month and Punchestown in May.”
