There will be no love lost between the two managers, dating back to the Special One signing a deal with Inter Milan while Mancini was still at the helm, but as the Italian said, “this game is not Mourinho-Mancini or Mancini-Mourinho. This game is Real Madrid-Manchester City.”
Mancini may be somewhat pleased at the Real Madrid he is facing, as they have lost two of their opening La Liga games and Mourinho has admitted he is struggling to motivate the team – including a “sad” Ronaldo.
“It’s a general state of mind,” he said after Saturday’s limp defeat to Seville. “At the moment there aren’t many of them out there thinking that football is the priority in their lives. I could only count on two or three of them.”
Mancini on the other hand has overseen a solid start to his Premier League defence, involving new signings who were bought to prove their Champions League credentials.
Mourinho has a full squad to choose from.
Manchester City may have Sergio Aguero back in their line up after a month on the sidelines with a knew injury, Gareth Barry is also back in contention after making hte bench for Saturday’s game against Stoke.
Micah Richards and Pablo Zabaleta are both injured.
