Ruby Walsh could be in line to take the ride on leading Champion Hurdle fancy, Peddlers Cross, if regular partner, Jason Maguire has his appeal dismissed by the BHA.

At present, Walsh has no obvious mount, in the feature race on day one of the Cheltenham Festival and the prospect of teaming up with one of the antepost favourites is certain to interest the Kildare man.

Speaking at a preview night at Exeter racecourse on Thursday night, Walsh’s main UK trainer, Paul Nicholls had this to say:

“It’s a good renewal. Menorah and Peddlers Cross are the two I’d like and if Jason Maguire’s ban is upheld I wouldn’t be surprised if Ruby (Walsh) took the ride on Peddlers Cross”.
