Ireland’s rugby players were yesterday busy defending their performance against Scotland on Sunday, as they received a number of negative comments on Twitter relating to their poor showing against the Scots.
Brian O’Driscoll, Tommy Bowe, Jamie Heaslip and Cian Healy are all avid users of the social networking site and “fans” were not slow to let them see how they felt about the weekends game.
Heaslip has a very large following but was not holding back yesterday as he defended his team:
“If u got something bad to say, go somewhere else or unfollow, really don’t have time for it. results matter, always said that”.
Cian Healy said: “Yes, I am happy, we won … so take your negativity elsewhere please … or don’t bother following, and thank you to the majority..”
Tommy Bowe said: “Happy with win, results are what’s important … Like to keep you on edge of your seat though!!”
O’Driscoll doesn’t tweet very often but got his message across by just forwarding a message he received on an unhappy fan:
“Great game today!!. Time to retire while we still have good memories of how good you were many years ago. Go gracefully.”
The captain seemed to make the right move as his tweet was responded to by hundreds of enraged fans who backed both himself and the Irish team.
