Offaly star, Shane Dooley has received a four week ban as a result of being sent off in the Fitzgibbon Cup semi final between CIT and UL last weekend.

Dooley was reported by the referee for “striking with the hurley” but appealed the penalty proposed by the Higher Education Competitions Control Committee.

The Central Hearings Committee of the GAA handed Dooley a four week suspension, dating from last Friday, in the same code and at the same level of competition. It includes the next game in the Fitzgibbon Cup even if the game falls outside the ban period.

What this effectively means is that Dooley will miss the first round of next years Fitzgibbon Cup competition if he is still a student at UL nad playing in the side.
