Shane Lowry has won his first ever tournament as professional.
The Offaly man won the Portuguese Open by one shot when Ross Fisher missed a four foot putt on the last hole when he needed a par to enter a play-off.
An 11th hole eagle helped Lowry to hit a 67.
Lowry was still an amateur in May 2009, when he won The 3 Irish Open on the European Tour, defeating Robert Rock.
Today’s victory will be the biggest ever payday for the Clara man when he claimed a winner’s cheque for €375,000.
The win moves him into the top 75 of the world rankings.
“I spent the last four years being called the guy that won the Irish open as an amature, but now ill be known as the winner of this event, iam over the moon”
