Irish rugby bosses have confirmed that Stephen Ferris will miss the remainder of the RBS Six Nations season.
The Ulster player has been struggling with a knee injury all season and he damaged it further while in action for his side against Aironi in the Heineken Cup.
Ferris will now see a specialist in London later this week in order to determine how serious the injury may be. He has already been told that it is unlikely he will play any further part in Ireland’s Six Nations campaign this year.
With this being World Cup year, the 26-year-old flanker will be anxious to get back to playing as soon as possible so that he can nail down a place in the Irish squad for the trip to New Zealand.
