Manchester City left back Wayne Bridge is set for a medical at Sunderland on Tuesday ahead of a proposed loan move.
The former England international joined the Manchester club for £10m in January 2009, but he has struggled to get into the City team over the last 18 months.
Bridge spent six months on loan at West Ham last year and he has yet to play in the Premier League this season.
The 31 year old’s sole appearance this term was in the 2-0 Carling Cup victory over Birmingham.
Championship club Reading were believed to have agreed a deal for Bridge, but the defender now looks set for a stay in the Premier League with Martin O’Neill’s team.
