Top Spanish club sack manager

Updated: February 6, 2012

Sevilla has fired coach Marcelino Garcia Toral after the Spanish club’s seventh straight league game without a win.

Marcelino’s position appeared in doubt on Sunday following a 2-1 loss to Villarreal, which left the club in 11th place after five defeats in the last seven games, six points away from a Champions League spot.

Sevilla did not name a replacement for Marcelino, who was in charge for just 21 games, winning six of them.

Marcelino is the eighth Spanish league coach fired this season.
