Friendlies played a backseat to Champions League and Europa Cup qualification matches on Tuesday, but several teams played out pre-season matches.

Premier League West Brom endured a miserable outing away to Rochdale. The League 1 side won 3-0 after goals from Ashley Grimes, Gary Jones and Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro.

It was a mixed night for the three teams relegated from the Premier league last season. Blackpool enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 victory over Hibernian and West Ham beat Dagenham and Redbridge 1-0, but Birmingham disappointingly lost 2-0 away Oxford United.

Meanwhile, Barcelona and Bayern Munich progressed to the final of the Audi Cup. Both teams won on penalties after competitive draws with Internacional and AC Milan respectively.

Thiago Alcantara and Jonathan dos Santos twice gave Barcelona the lead, while Nei and Leandro Damiao equalised for Internacional. Damiao then missed a spot kick in the shoot-out, with Pinto scoring the winning penalty.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave AC Milan a fourth minute lead, but Toni Kroos equalised for Bayern in the 34th minute. Alberto Paloschi missed a spot kick for AC Milan and Bastian Schweinsteiger scored to send Bayern into the final.

Sportsnewsireland.com will have live score updates on all GAA Championship matches over the summer.
