McKenna Cup Semi Final Result
Cavan 0-14 to 2-11 Tyrone
Tyrone booked their place in the 2011 McKenna Cup Final with a three point win over a battling Cavan side in Brewster Park last night.
The visitors scored two crucial goals early in the second half from Martin Penrose and Patrick McNiece to kill off the home teams challenge.
Cavan were in front 0-11 to 0-6 when Penrose scored from the penalty spot after corner-forward Mark Donnelly was fouled in the square.
McNiece then found the net again two minutes later to put Tyrone ahead 2-6 to 0-11. Cavan refused to give in, despite the fact they were always playing catch-up. Tyrone brought on Stephen O’Neill for the closing stages and he helped himself to two points.
Cavan were the better side in the opening half and led 0-10 to 0-6 at the interval. Seanie Johnston led the way and ended up with 0-9 of his sides tally.
