Manchester United are chasing their Europa League conqueror Athletic Bilbao Oscar de Marcos
The highly rated 22 year old midfielder scored in both ties as the basque side knocked Sir Alex Ferguson side out of Europe and the Scot was impressed with what he saw.
According to the Daily Mirror United had the starlet watched by chief scout Jim Lawlor after Martin Ferguson had checked him out the week before.
De Marcos has been capped at U20, U21 & U23 level for Spain and such has been his progress under Bilbao coach Marcelo Biesla that the La Liga outfit inserted a £26 million pound release clause.
However it is unlikely that United will pay that sum for a player that has yet to receive full representative honours for his country although his versatility appeals to Ferguson who is searching for a long term option for Paul Scholes.
