Manchester City FC have reportedly banned BBC journalist Dan Roan from all media activity after he went public with a revelation from Football Development Executive Patrick Vieira.
The Frenchman is reported as saying that: ”When Manchester United play at home they get some advantage that other teams don’t get. It’s an advantage all teams that are used to winning get.” Even though the 35 year-old World Cup winner knew he was being set up; he still proceeded to make the assertion.
On the video; the man born in Senegal but brought up in France continues: “I have to be careful what I say, because if I say something you will make more noise than if it was a Fulham player or a Fulham coach saying it, I don’t want to get into that type of comment.”
Whilst most pundits agree that mind games alter little in what is a very tight title race between the two Manchester clubs, it is not known why Vieira had to mention Manchester United, given that he would surely be aware that mentioning his clubs’ nearest rivals would cause a stir.
For now at least it appears the big loser in the whole situation is the BBC’s Dan Roan.
