Rugby League players are supposed to be tough as nails. It goes with the territory. Paul Wood, prop with the Warrington Wolves helped confirm this perception after lacerating a testicle during the Warrington Wolves 28-14 defeat to Leeds in the Super League grand final over the weekend.
Wood received a knee to the groin region just after half time yet managed to see out the match in its entirety. 30 year old Wood made no mention of the gruesome injury in his post match interviews despite having to undergo surgery later that night to remove the lacerated testicle.
Posting on twitter, the Warrington star managed to see the funny side of the story, quipping “just coming out the hospital to go home… Seriously feel like I’ve left something?’ Rugby players have reputations for fearlessness and the balls displayed by Woods to continue playing should serve as a reminder to his football counterparts to stop rolling around the ground in agony when barely touched. Things could be much more serious.data-num-posts="2" data-width="470">
