Waterford will play Cork in next weekend’s Munster Hurling Cup after coming from behind to beat Clare 2-19 to 2-18 at Sixmilebridge this afternoon.

The Banner men looked to have this game wrapped up as goals from Cathal McInerney and Fergal Lynch saw them go in at the break holding a 2-12 to 0-7 lead.

But Waterford, who lost Eoin McGrath to a first half ankle injury, fought back strongly in the second period and it is testimony to their heart and courage that they eventually gained the spoils here.

Richie Filey grabbed a goal from a free and Shane Casey also hit the Clare net, despite the best efforts of goalkeeper Philip Brennan who pulled off some fine second half saves.

Waterford and Cork will now meet in the final of the competition next Sunday.
