Woman racing driver dies in crash

A female amateur racing car driver has died when her crashed on the final corner of Goodword racing circuit.

Sandra Harrison-Moore, aged 37, lost control of her L7-2 Caterham Roadsport 1800 classic sports car and crashed into the tyre wall during a time-trial event.

She was airlifted to hospital following the accident which happened shortly after lunchtime on Saturday, but doctors were unable to save her.

Mrs Harrison-Moore, from Milton Keynes, Bucks, had been racing a Caterham sports car in a sprint event at Goodwood in Chichester, West Sussex.

It is understood that she raced the L7-2 Caterham Roadsport 1800 car regularly with her husband, Simon, 48, and has competed in similar events across England as a hobby.

The Motor Sports Association (MSA), which ran the event, confirmed that it would be working with police and Mrs Harrison-Moore’s club to establish what happened, though it appears to have been a tragic accident as the car ran out of control.
