Last years Derby and Arc hero Workforce is set to miss his showdown with So You Think next week at Royal Ascot. In a statement released by his connections this morning it was revealed that the colt is now more likely to head to Sandown for the Coral Eclipse on July 2.

Lord Grinthorpe, who is racing manager to Workforces owner Prince Khalid Abdullah, confirmed on Tuesday: “Workforce probably won’t go to Royal Ascot. He is more likely to wait for the Coral-Eclipse.”

If Workforce misssed Royal Ascot it will be the second time that connections will have ducked a meeting with So You Think. Workforce was intended to mekt his seasonal debut in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, the race that So You Think won.

Instead he made his reapperance in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown thirteen days ago. The clash with So You Think will now have to wait until the autumn when the Arc will be the most likely race for the pair to meet.

In the absence of Workforce So You Think’s main opposition will come in the form of the Elie Lellouche trained Prix Ganay Planteur. Speaking this morning Lellouche confirmed his colt is on tracck for Royal Ascot.

“The colt worke this morning and went well. All the lights are now green for Ascot”
