After winning their first title in 2007, Ballyboden won a record five-in-a-row. Since then, two more titles in 2013 and 2018 have made them one of the most successful hurling teams in the county.

Likewise, Cuala boast seven titles. In addition to this, they went on to win the All-Ireland Club Championship in 2017 and 2018. As a result, this weekend’s final has some extra motivation as both teams aim to move ahead of the other for titles won.

Previously, Cuala shook off a strong semi-final challenge from Lucan Sarsfields. They were 0-5 to 0-1 down for a long time and Lucan held their lead until midway through the second half. Then, Sean Moran netted a goal for the holders just after the water break. Indeed, Cuala showed their experience in the final fifteen minutes by keeping Lucan scoreless. In the end, it was 1-17 to 0-13.

Meanwhile, Ballyboden St. Enda’s were six-point winners against Na Fianna. Similar to Cuala, they started slowly. Yet, they hit 1-9 in the second half to finish strongly. Paul Ryan’s penalty proved to be a comfort score in the end.

Now, Ballyboden St. Enda’s and Cuala play to decide who is the true big team in Dublin Hurling.
