The Blues are looking for an important win as they host a top of Group H clash this evening in the Champions League

Chelsea v Juventus will kick off at 20:00 on Tuesday, 23rd November in Stamford Bridge. Serbian referee Srdjan Jovanovic will take charge of the tie. Highlights of the match will be shown on Virgin Media Two and Sky Sports.

Manager Thomas Tuchel will be very happy to come into this tie after going nine games unbeaten, including two Champions League wins against Malmo. Those wins have Chelsea sitting in second place in the group with nine points, six ahead of third-place Zenit St Petersburg.

A good result tonight will ensure their qualification from the group and help them leapfrog Juventus into first place.

The Old Lady are beginning to turn their season around.  Although they are historically the strongest Italian team with Maximilliano Allegri as manager, Juventus are in eighth place in their league.

It may be too late for them to win the league title but they can focus their efforts on finally winning silverware in Europe.

The Italian giants have owned this fixture in the last decade. They have played three times since 2012 with Juventus coming out on top twice and one game ending in a draw.

Most recently in late September, Allegri’s team kept a clean sheet as they won 1-0 in the Allianz Stadium in Turin. That night, Chelsea were very poor in front of goal, with 73 percent possession and 16 shots but only one on target. Tuchel will want a stronger performance to ensure their team’s qualification.

Chelsea v Juventus Match Betting

Score Prediction

Juventus were able to prove their strength earlier in the season but injuries seem to be their main downfall tonight. Tuchel will want to keep the club’s unbeaten run going over the last two months and that will continue in this game.

Expect the game to end 2-0 to Chelsea.

Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones will remain on the sidelines for several more weeks due to an eye injury he sustained in training prior to the international break.

The accidental collision ruled Jones out of Liverpool’s last two games before the November international window began – a 2-0 home win against Atletico Madrid that saw the side equal the club record of 25 games unbeaten and a 3-1 loss to West Ham that ensured their streak would be no longer.

The 20-year-old has made nine appearances for Liverpool this season and has impressed when given the opportunity.

Jones’ injury is specific to the eye and not the socket and the Scouse-born player will need a few more weeks to make a recovery.

Doctor Jim Moxon explained: “It’s a freak injury and very unlucky, but the important thing to emphasise is there is no lasting damage and his vision won’t be impacted beyond the recovery period.

“However, the nature of the issue means caution is important; we need to allow it time to heal and we can’t rush it, therefore it won’t be a speedy return.

“It needs to mend before we are able to reintroduce Curtis to full training, but there are things he can do in the meantime to maintain fitness.

“We can’t put a specific timescale on a return beyond it will be a number of weeks from now as it heals naturally, so it’s not one we will risk and patience is a virtue with this specific recovery.”

The second half of the Champions League group stage kicks off tonight as Chelsea travel to the Swedish leaders

Malmo FF v Chelsea will kick off at 17:45 this evening, 2nd November in the Eleda Stadium. German referee Felix Brych will take charge of the tie.

The game will be shown live on BT Sport 2 while subscribers can also watch it on the app.

Malmo have been getting back to their good form in Sweden. Since their last match against Chelsea, they are unbeaten in three games including a 3-2 victory away to Sirius.

The Champions League has been much less favourable for them. After three games, they have zero points, conceding 11 goals and scoring none. They will need to turn their form around in the next three games if they want to ensure a Europa League place.

Thomas Tuchel’s men have now gone six games unbeaten since losing to Juventus in September. Chelsea’s squad depth has been really important recently after injuries to crucial players but now they are beginning to return to the first team.

Tonight’s game is the perfect chance for Chelsea to improve their strong goal difference as they mount a comeback to claim the top of the group against the Italian giants.

This is a very sporadic fixture as Sweden’s current number one have only faced England’s current number one three times before. Chelsea have won all three of those games scoring nine and only conceding one.

Most recently, the Blues beat Malmo 4-0 in Stamford Bridge last month in the Champions League.

Malmo FF v Chelsea Match Betting

Malmo FF to win: 13/1

Draw: 5/1

Chelsea to win: 1/5

Score Prediction

This will be a good home fixture for the Swedish team to have in terms of entertainment but not with the hopes of claiming any points. Malmo’s previous form in Europe will continue tonight as they face a team chasing top of the group.

Expect Chelsea to run out 4-0 winners.

Now in round three of the Champions League groupstage and Chelsea will be looking to bounce back against Swedish opposition

Chelsea v Malmo FF will kick off at 20:00 tonight, the 20th of October in Stamford Bridge. French referee Francois Letexier will take charge of the match.

The Blues are finally fully back to their winning ways but are still not convincing. Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy put in a Man of the Match performance to beat Brentford 2-1 at the weekend.

Manager Thomas Tuchel will now want a strong win in the Champions League. Last time they lost to Juventus in a weak, poor display. They sit in second place on goal difference in the group, a win will be vital now to their progression.

Malmo are the best that Sweden has to offer. They currently are perched on top of their league having won their last two games.

European football has not been as easy for them this season. They are yet to score a goal having lost 3-0 to Juventus and 4-0 to Zenit St Petersburg.

Jon Dahl Tomasson and his team will need a win tonight or they will be left too far adrift to save their campaign in Europe.

It is very rare that these two sides face each other. They last met in the Europa League qualifiers in 2019 where the Blues won 5-1 on aggregate. That victory included a 3-0 victory at home for the London club.

Chelsea v Malmo FF Probable Starting Teams

Formation

Chelsea v Malmo FF Match Betting

Chelsea to win: 1/14

Draw: 2/1

Malmo FF to win: 30/1

Score Prediction

There is nearly no point in thinking that Malmo could cause an upset against the Blues away from home. Chelsea will win this game but it will be interesting to see by how much.

If Tuchel decides to play a strong side then they could easily keep a clean sheet while inflicting a heavy scoreline.

Expect this game to end 4-0 to Chelsea.

The underperforming Italian giants will welcome the reigning champions to their ground in round two of the Champions League

The match will kickoff at 20:00 on Wednesday, 29th September in the Allianz Stadium with Spanish referee Jesus Gil in charge.

European football is an escape for the fans of Juventus this season. In the league, after six games they are in tenth place with two losses. Massimiliano Allegri’s side is already ten points behind leaders Napoli.

The Champions League shows more hope for them after beating Malmo FF 3-0. There is little worry that they will fail to qualify out of the group but Chelsea will be a real challenge for this team.

On the other side of the coin, the Blues have had a very decent season so far but are currently in a bad run of form. In what is a busy period between the cup and league, Chelsea had a poor home defeat to Manchester City.

The European challenge thus far has seen them edge past Zenit St Petersburg 1-0 in a cagey affair.

These two clubs have not faced each other competitively in nearly ten years. The last time they competed in the Champions League in 2012, Juventus secured four points with a win and an away draw.

Score Prediction

Injuries have really hampered the Old Lady’s chances in this tie. It will not help that Thomas Tuchel will have put fire in his team’s belly after the loss at the weekend and they will be looking to win.

Expect this game to end 2-0 to Chelsea.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has said that his side’s run to the final last season was an “incredible achievement” for the club.

City played in the final of Europe’s premier club competition for the first time in its history in May but failed to win the top prize, losing 1-0 to English rivals Chelsea.

However, Guardiola has praised the journey to the final, which consisted of 11 wins and a draw, as an achievement and not a failure.

The Manchester-based team won a group that consisted of Porto, Olympiacos and Marseille, and beat Borussia Monchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and 2019/20 finalists Paris Saint-Germain on the road to the last fixture on the competition’s calendar.

“People can say Man City was a failure but it was an incredible achievement last season, playing really well in many of the games and losing well against a big contender,” Guardiola said.

“Every time I start this competition with drive. I’m incredibly happy here. Man City made a step forward last season, we improved a lot. We had 13 games and we won 11.

“We played incredibly well in Porto [in the group stage] when we drew and deserved to win. We lost the final.

“Now we start a new one and every team wants to win. We’re going to try but I won’t tell you which team is going to win because I don’t know it.”

Manchester City enter this year’s competition as joint-favourites in the eyes of the bookmakers alongside slain semi-finalists from last year, PSG, at 7/2.

City have yet to add a European trophy to the collection that only swells with each passing season.

They begin their quest for a first-ever piece of silverware on the European stage when they face German outfit RB Leipzig on Wednesday, September 15 at 8 pm.

Thomas Tuchel announced today at a press conference that two of his midfielders will miss their opening Champions League game

Chelsea’s first game of the new Champions League campaign will kick off tomorrow evening in Stamford Bridge. The reigning champions face Zenit St Petersburg in what is an important week in the club’s season.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has now spoken in a press conference as his team prepares for the game. He told the media that talismanic midfielder Ngolo Kanté and American wunderkind Cristian Pulisic will not be fit for the game.

Kanté picked up his injury in the Blue’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool in Anfield before the international break. The 30-year-old hurt his ankle in a tackle with Fabinho after 40 minutes, this forced him off at halftime.

This is a major setback for the Frenchman as he is only just after coming back from a knock at the start of the season in the UEFA Super Cup final.

Pulisic sustained a knock in a USA national team match against Honduras. Similar to his French teammate, he ended up with an ankle injury after a strong collision with an opponent.

Neither player’s injuries seem too severe and they will probably be back on the pitch or the bench for Chelsea at the weekend.

Thankfully for Tuchel, he has no other injury worries in the squad. Midfielders Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi have fully recovered from small injuries they received last month and have been training with the squad for some time.

This is a busy week for the club as they face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, the boss will want a full squad to choose from as he goes into an important part of the season.

The Champions League is back and the reigning winners kick off proceedings with a home match against Zenit in Group H

The tie will kickoff at 20:00 on Tuesday, 14th September in Stamford Bridge with Polish official Bartosz Frankowski in charge.

Chelsea seems to be getting better and better with each passing week. In their most recent game against Aston Villa, they underperformed but managed to win 3-0 with star Romelu Lukaku getting a brace.

This good run of form sees them sitting in joint first place with Man United and Liverpool. One worry that the side has is that this game comes in the middle of an important week where they face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Zenit can be a formidable side on their day, they are the clear leaders in the Russian Premier League after seven games. They still remain unbeaten since the start of their preseason matches, making an 11-game run.

Their squad includes some familiar faces with former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren likely to start and striker Artem Dzyuba a major part of Russia’s World Cup 2018 run.

The two sides have not faced each other in recent history so it will be a new experience for the opposing clubs.

It is next to impossible to bet against the reigning club world champions in their first match at home against a team from a much smaller league.

Zenit may be the best that the Russian league can offer but they will really need to play out of their skins to compete with an in-form Chelsea team.

Expect the game to end 3-0 to the Blues.

UEFA have announced that they will allow away fans to attend European group games this season, lifting a ban that was previously in place, according to Football Supporters Europe (FSE).

Away fans were previously not permitted to attend fixtures in the qualifying rounds, including the play-off round.

In a statement by the FSE, the news was confirmed and is subject to local restrictions.

The FSE is an independent, democratic, & non-profit association of football fans and has members in over 45 UEFA nations.

The statement reads: “CONFIRMED: Return of away fans at UEFA club competitions.

“FSE can confirm that away fans will be permitted to attend European club competitions matches from next week. (local restrictions & travel requirement might still apply).”

The group had previously lobbied for away fans to be permitted to attend fixtures ahead of the 2021/22 season.

In their previous statement, the organisation said: “Football Supporters Europe (FSE) is opposed to a blanket ban on away fans at UEFA club and national team competition fixtures.

“International travel is currently permitted for many citizens in the UEFA region. Football fans should not be subject to specific exclusions, which amount to a form of unequal treatment.

“This view is shared by a number of clubs and other stakeholders.”

They used Dutch fans as an example after quoting AFC Ajax Chief Executive Edwin Van Der Sar.

“As things stand, however, a group of Dutch fans, for example, can visit France, go to a cinema, music festival, and sporting event together, but still be barred from attending their own club’s match in a stadium that is filled with home fans.

“FSE therefore believes that guidelines on away fans should be decided on a case-by-case basis in line with the local public health situation and advice of the relevant public authorities—which the overwhelming majority of fans have respected throughout the pandemic and fully understand are liable to change.

“We have communicated this position to UEFA and asked for a timely re-evaluation of its existing policy before the fixture list is announced so that fans have ample opportunity to make any travel-related decisions.”

This Friday, UEFA announced the 12 nominees, three for each position, that could receive awards based on last years performances

The 12 players were decided by a voting system. The jury was made up of coaches from the 32 clubs and 55 journalists representing UEFA’s member associations.

The five players that were nominated for champions Chelsea were Edouard Mendy, Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Antonio Rudiger, and N’Golo Kante.

This has been an unpredictably amazing year for Jorginho who struggled for game time at the start of the season. He has now become the driving force that won Chelsea a Champions League and Italy win the Euro 2020.

Many are claiming that the Italian maestro deserves to be in with a shout for the Balon d’Or award this year for his achievements.

Runners-up Manchester City who lost the final 1-0 to a Kai Havertz finish also has three players named on the list: Ederson, Ruben Dias, and Kevin De Bruyne.

The beaten semi-finalists Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain each have one player on the list, Thibaut Courtois and Kylian Mbappe.

Two Bundesliga strikers finished the list, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland. The young Norweigan forward finished as last years Champions League top goalscorer.

Some notable exclusions from the nominees’ list are Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar.

Messi finished in fourth place in the voting as Barcelona was knocked out by Chelsea in the quarter-finals. Ronaldo did not even manage to finish in the top 10 as Juventus crashed out to Porto in the quarters.

Neymar on the other hand was considered to not have made a major impact on PSG’s season. He did manage six goals and two assists for the club in nine games as he neglected to play in the French league.

The winners of the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, and forward award will be announced at the Champions League group-stage draw in Istanbul in two weeks’ time.

List of nominees

Goalkeeper: Ederson (Man City), Edouard Mendy (Chelsea), Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid).

Defender: Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea), Cezar Azpilicueta (Chelsea), Ruben Dias (Man City).

Attacker: Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund), Kylian Mbappe (PSG), Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich).
