Now with two wins under their belt, Marcelo Bielsa’s men invited an underperforming Leicester to London in the Premier League

Leeds v Leicester will kick off at 14:00 on Sunday 7th November in Elland Road. Referee Darren England will take charge of the tie.

Leeds United pulled off their second victory of the season last week after beating rock-bottom Norwich city 2-1. Recent games have found the Whites sitting in 17th place only three points ahead of the relegation zone.

In their ten matches this season, they have an average possession of 58.4% but they really need to turn their ball retention into goals.

Leicester have had a troublesome few weeks in the league and in Europe. They are without a win in their last three games including losing to Arsenal and drawing with Brighton & Hove Albion.

After ten matches, they are in the bottom half of the table and have relied heavily on their Danish keeper. So far this season Kasper Schmeichel is ranked second in the league for saves per game (3.5).

This has been a tight, tense affair in recent years. In their last 12 meetings between the Premier League, Championship and Cups, Leicester have won six times, Leeds United have won three times and there have been three draws.

Last season, both teams shared a win each away from home including a 3-1 victory for Leeds in January.

Level on points, ninth place Leicester take on tenth place Arsenal in week ten of the Premier League this weekend

Leicester v Arsenal will kick off at 12:30 on Sunday, 30th October in the King Power Stadium. English referee Michael Oliver will take charge of the tie.

Leicester comes into this tie after beating Brighton in a penalty shootout midweek in the EFL Cup. Their starting team will be much changed along with the injuries to Jamie Vardy and Wesley Fofana.

The Foxes currently sit in ninth place, unbeaten in five games. Brendan Rodgers will have his team pumped for this match in hopes of another important victory.

Mikel Arteta has turned his squad into a force to be reckoned with. They are now eight games unbeaten, winning their last two games. The Gunners were also victorious in the EFL Cup after they beat Leeds United at home 2-0 on Tuesday.

The London club will be hoping that two of their injury worries will be fit to play this match. Midfielder Martin Odegaard and defender Kieren Tierney both missed this week’s cup game with knocks.

This has been a hotly contested affair in the last few years with both sides sharing victories. Over the last ten years, Arsenal has won eight of their 15 meetings while Leicester has managed four wins, and there have been three draws.

Last season, the away team won each fixture with the Gunners most recently winning 3-1 at the King Power Stadium.

Expect the game to end 2-1 to Rodger’s Leicester.

Leicester City FC manager Brendan Rodgers has praised the club’s recruitment in light of Wesley Fofana’s injury in the pre-season.

Wesley Fofana fractured his right fibula after he was on the receiving end of a tackle from Villarreal attacker Fernando Nino.

“Obviously, to lose a player with such an injury in a friendly game was devastating for us – and for the player himself, more importantly,” Rodgers said in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports. “He had been very, very good over the course of pre-season and was looking forward to the beginning of the season.”

Rodgers drafted squad player Daniel Amartey into the centre of his defence for the Community Shield win over Manchester City on Saturday.

He was impressed with the Ghanaian’s performance beside Caglar Soyuncu as they kept a clean sheet against the likes of Riyad Mahrez.

However, the Leicester City boss is interested in strengthening the position with another signing after losing Fofana for a substantial period of time.

Rodgers told Sky Sports: “Hopefully we can. It’s an area where we are a little light with Jonny out as well for a period of time with a foot injury.

“With all the games we’re going to have over the course of the season, we need to have cover in those positions.

“It is something the club are currently looking at.”

Leicester has an impressive recent history when it comes to recruitment, with the injured French defender being one of the examples of this.

Their stellar recruitment led to the famous Premier League-winning season of 2015/16 as £5 million signing N’Golo Kante and £450,000 addition Riyad Mahrez shone alongside other cut-price players to take the side to the top of English football.

The trend has continued under Rodgers with the club having a net spend of £48.9 million under the former Liverpool and Celtic boss.

That is less than Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Leeds – all of whom they finished above last season.

Rodgers is involved in the recruitment process at the club and hailed their ability to find players suited to the club.

He added: “I think at this moment in time, Leicester City is a very attractive place to be. If you want to develop as a player, work in world-class training facilities and be a part of a real community club with a family feel, then this is a great place for you.”

Former Premier League player Dean Windass believes that Leicester midfielder James Maddison would be open to a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

James Maddison has been linked with the side recently and his club has put a £70 million price tag on him.

Maddison is currently under contract with the FA Cup and FA Community Shield champions until 2024.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has scored 27 times for the Foxes and made 20 assists in 119 appearances in his time with the club.

Leicester’s ideal outcome of the situation would see them keep hold of their attacking midfielder for the upcoming season.

Former Hull City forward Dean Windass believes that the size of Arsenal compared to Leicester will have Maddison’s head turned.

Windass spoke to Transfer Tavern about the potential move and does not understand why Maddison would stay where he is.

Although Windass acknowledged that Leicester have been the better side in recent times, he argued that Arsenal’s position in world football is greater.

“Why wouldn’t you want to go to Arsenal?” the ex-Hull City striker said. “Listen, we talk about footballers now where it’s not about money anymore, it’s about winning trophies. Are Arsenal going to be in the top four next year? No. Are Leicester with Jamie Vardy? Yes.

“But a big club like Arsenal calling and he’s obviously open to it, reports saying he’d welcome the move.”

Leicester has finished above Arsenal in the Premier League in the last two seasons.

However, the two sides have won as much silverware as each other in that time and Arsenal have enjoyed much more success a the top level of English football than Leicester.

Windass sees that as an important trait for a club to have but it remains to be seen whether Maddison will be tempted over to North London.
