The Gunners have finally been beaten, ending their long run but Arteta will want to get back on track against bottom-table Newcastle this weekend

Arsenal v Newcastle United will kick off at 12:30 on Saturday 27th November in the Emirates Stadium. Referee Stuart Atwell will take charge of the tie.

Mikel Arteta’s ten-game unbeaten spell came to an end last week after they were beaten 4-0 by Liverpool. The Gunners were outclassed throughout the field but Aaron Ramsdale still managed to have a strong game between the sticks.

The London Reds will want to forget about that match and move onto this week’s fixture as quickly as possible. They currently sit in fifth place in the league, three points off West Ham in front of them. A win will be crucial for Arsenal this weekend in their fight for European football next year.

Newcastle, on the other hand, might not be playing Premier League football next year. They dwell on the bottom of the table, five points from safety. They are the only team left without a victory this season but they have claimed three draws in their last four matches.

In brighter news, the Magpie’s new manager Eddie Howe will be in the dugout for them tomorrow. Their next three games will be vital for them to pick up points before they go into a tough run of matches.

This has been a long and one-sided fixture over the last decade. In recent history, these two teams have played each other 22 times with the Gunners winning on a whopping 18 occasions. Two games have ended in draws while Newcastle were victorious twice, most recently in 2018.

Another worrying stat for the Magpies is that they have lost and failed to score in the last six games of this matchup. They played in May in which Arsenal were 2-0 winners away from home.

Unai Emery Leading Candidate for Newcastle Job

Unai Emery has been touted as the leading candidate to become the next manager of Newcastle United.

The former Arsenal manager is currently enjoying life as manager of Spanish side Villarreal, winning the Europa League last season against Manchester United.

If Newcastle were to open talks with the Spaniard, it would take up to £5 million worth of compensation to get him out of his current deal.

It is understood that while Emery is more than happy to stay at Villarreal, he would not be opposed to opening talks with Newcastle.

After being sacked by Arsenal in 2019, the 49-year-old is said to have unfinished business in England.

Although on Monday, Emery came out dismissing any interest from Tyneside.

Addressing questions about the vacant position before Villarreal’s Champions League clash with Young Boys, Emery said:

“I don’t know anything about Newcastle.”

With the sacking of Steve Bruce, Newcastle have been without a manager for their last two Premier League fixtures, drawing to Crystal Palace and losing to Chelsea at home.

It is understood that Newcastle wants a manager in charge by the weekend, ahead of their game away at Brighton.

Former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca was reportedly in talks for the vacant position, but as it stands it is highly unlikely that the Portuguese will be appointed as Steve Bruce’s successor.

Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Roberto Martinez and Eddie Howe have all been linked with the Newcastle job in recent weeks.

Graeme Jones has assumed caretaker charge and oversaw Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to league leaders Chelsea.

The Magpies remain winless in the Premier League after drawing four games and losing six of their 10 matches so far this term.

Thomas Tuchel’s men will want to make a big impression this weekend and keep themselves flying high on top of the table

Newcastle v Chelsea will kick off at 15:00 on Saturday, 30th October in St James’ Park. Referee Paul Tierney will take charge of the tie.

Newcastle is well and truly under new ownership but they are still yet to grab their first victory of the season. They currently sit in 19th place on four points which is three away from getting out of the relegation zone.

Last weekend they completed a comeback draw away against Crystal Palace after an outstanding Callum Wilson bicycle kick. More flair and creativity will be needed to secure any points tomorrow.

Chelsea is still flying high on top of the Premier League table, now unbeaten in five games in all competitions. They are only one point ahead of their closest competitors, Liverpool so a victory is still very essential.

Injuries are the main problem for the team as their captain Cesar Azpilicueta and strikers Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner will most likely miss the game with knocks.

The Blues are still in good form after winning their cup tie against Southampton again with a penalty shootout.

This fixture has been surprisingly close in the last ten years. Over 22 matches, Chelsea has won 12 while Newcastle has managed seven victories, and three games ending in draws.

Last season, the Blues were the dominant force winning both fixtures, home and away, 2-0.

Newcastle v Chelsea Match Betting

Newcastle to win: 15/2

Draw: 15/4

Chelsea to win: 1/3

Score Prediction

Newcastle’s newfound money and impending transfer rumors will not help them in this fixture on Saturday. Tuchel’s men should have enough strength and depth to secure a comfortable victory this weekend even without their two starting strikers.

Expect the game to end 4-1 to Chelsea.

Newcastle United Sack Steve Bruce

Newcastle United have sacked head coach Steve Bruce.

Rumours have been persisting for weeks of Bruce’s dismissal after the Saudi Arabian-backed consortium, led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) completed a £305m takeover of Newcastle on October 7th.

The 60-year-old Bruce was in the dug-out for his side’s 2-3 home defeat to Tottenham on Sunday, which was his 1,000th match as a manager.  With non-executive chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan and director Amanda Staveley in the stands at St. James’s Park.

The defeat to Tottenham was Newcastle’s 5th league loss of the season, with the club second from bottom, winless after their opening eight games of the campaign.

Now, it has been confirmed that Steve Bruce has left the club by mutual consent, with the club confirming this in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A club statement read;

Newcastle United can confirm that Steve Bruce has left his position as head coach by mutual consent.

He leaves the Magpies after more than two years in charge, having steered the club to 13th and 12th-place finishes in the Premier League and reaching the quarter-final stage in both the Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup during his tenure.

Newcastle United would like to place on record its gratitude to Steve for his contribution and wishes him well for the future.

A statement was also released from Bruce after his departure from Tyneside;

“I am grateful to everyone connected with Newcastle United for the opportunity to manage this unique football club.

“I would like to thank my coaching team, the players and the support staff in particular for all their hard work. There have been highs and lows, but they have given everything even in difficult moments and should be proud of their efforts.

“This is a club with incredible support, and I hope the new owners can take it forward to where we all want it to be. I wish everyone the very best of luck for the rest of this season and beyond.”

Assistant coach Graeme Jones will take charge of the squad on an interim basis, starting with Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace, and will be joined by the coaching team of Steve Agnew, Stephen Clemence, Ben Dawson and Simon Smith.

Steve Bruce set to leave Newcastle after Takeover

According to reports, Amanda Staveley is set to relieve current manager Steve Bruce from his duties this week.

Bruce is to have crunch talks with Staveley this afternoon and is expected to be sacked prior to their Super Sunday showdown with Tottenham at St. James’s Park.

The Newcastle director has been quick to dismiss any speculation surrounding Bruce’s status after last Friday’s takeover that saw PCP’s Capital Partners take control of the club.

She had planned to meet with Bruce and the players last week, but both manager and players were off on international duty. She did, however, speak with Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles on the phone.

Staveley, who is the current chief executive of PCP Capital Partners and a major figure on the Newcastle board is said to be disappointed with the club’s current league position, languishing in 19th.

With Bruce set to leave the club, an adequate replacement has yet to be lined up. It is very likely that current Newcastle assistant manager Graeme Jones will take charge of the first team on an interim basis.

In a recent interview, Bruce was fully aware that the new owners could seek out other alternatives to match their high ambitions.

He said;

“I’m happy for the club that this has gone through. It’s a great night for the fans, I’m delighted for them,”

“I want to continue [as manager] but I have to be realistic. I’m not stupid and aware of what could happen with new owners.”

Bruce joined the club in the summer of 2019, after replacing fan favourite manager Rafa Benitez, finishing 13th and 12th in his first two seasons.

In 96 competitive matches with the club, he holds a 43% win percentage, winning 29, drawing 25 and losing 42.

Leeds United travel to Newcastle on week five of the Premier League looking for their first win of the season

The game will kick off at 20:00 on Friday, 17th September in St. James’ Park with Mike Dean refereeing.

This has been another poor start to the season for Newcastle, after four games they have only managed one draw against Southampton. This sees them languishing 19th place as fans grow even more frustrated.

Last year’s wunderkind Joe Willock has yet to find his form while the squad has been hit with a few injuries to key players. Although they are at home, this will be a very challenging match for them.

Leeds has not faired much better in the league this season, they have only grabbed two draws in their fixtures and sit in 17th place. Bielsa will plan to turn their fortune around at the weekend after a tough run of fixtures.

The team will need to contend with only having one full-time center half available after Struijk’s red card was not rescinded.

These two sides have been very evenly matched in recent years, playing against each other in both the Premier League and Championship. Last season, Leeds proved to be stronger winning both ties including a thrilling 5-2 game before Christmas.

Predicted Score

Newcastle has been hit too hard with injuries this week and it will be hard for them to rekindle any excitement in their game without the missing players. Ayling will be well able to fill in at the defense for Leeds and sure them up.

Expect this game to end 3-1 to Leeds.

Manchester United v Newcastle United will go head-to-head on the Gameweek 5 of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.

This game will be an interesting game for both teams. The last time these two sides met was last February where Ole Gunnar Solsjkaers side came out 3-1 victors. Man United also took 6 points from 6 from Newcastle in the 2020/2021 season.

Manchester United Retrospective

Things are looking very brightly for Man United so far this season. A great transfer window that saw marquee names Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane brought in. But, it was the return of Cristiano Ronaldo that has catapulted United into red-hot title favourites.

Defensively and Attacking-wise, United look strong and if they manage to keep their form going steadily along, they will be hard stopped.

Newcastle United Retrospective

Steve Bruce is under pressure at Tyneside, a relatively average transfer window with one ”big money” signing in Joe Willock, they are still without a win this season.

While they may struggle in this game, they do have winnable games for the remainder of September and October to notch points up on the board.

Date, kick-off time and venue

This game between Manchester United and Newcastle United will kick off at 3 pm BST (British Summer Time) on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Old Trafford.

Where to watch Manchester United v Newcastle United

The game will not be televised live on any UK channel.

Manchester United v Newcastle United team news

Marcus Rashford is still recovering from shoulder surgery, while Phil Jones, Alex Telles and Eric Bailly are all out.

Edison Cavani is set to make a return to action.

Martin Dubravka, Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden Paul Dummett and Callum Wilson are all in a race against time to be fit for this game after picking up knocks.

Manchester United v Newcastle United prediction

Both sides are the polar opposite in terms of form and quality. Man United are still unbeaten this season with 2 wins and 1 draw with their last league game saw them overcome Wolves 0-1 with a Mason Greenwood winner.

Newcastle looked void of ideas and should be truly outclassed here. Expect them to defend in droves.

Prediction: Manchester United 5-1

Predicted Line-Up

Manchester United XI – (4-2-3-1)

Leicester City travel to the London Stadium to take on West Ham in their first away game of the season on Monday night.

Brendan Rodgers’ side will be looking for their second win in as many games after a 1-0 opening weekend victory over Bruno Lage’s Wolves.

Jamie Vardy was the goalscorer at the King Power and will be available to lead the line for the Foxes again.

However, defender Jannik Vestergaard, who joined the club from Southampton 11 days ago and made his debut against Wolves, will not be available for selection after picking up an injury in training.

This leaves Caglar Soyuncu as the only recognised senior centre-back at the club that is fit for their second Premier League game.

Jonny Evans and Wesley Fofana are also currently recovering from injuries they had picked up before the 2021/22 season started.

Ryan Bertrand is also unavailable as he recovers from Covid-19 but full-back Timothy Castagne is set to make his return to the side after suffering an eye socket injury at Euro 2020.

However, Luke Thomas will play in place of Bertrand on the left side of the defence.

West Ham got off to an impressive start last week with a four-goal showing at St James Park.

Michail Antonio got on the scoresheet in the side’s opening fixture and has scored in his last two Premier League starts against Leicester.

The Londoner is one goal off becoming the outright top scorer for the Hammers in the competition – he is tied with Paolo Di Canio on 47.

Wing-back Arthur Masuaku is still recovering from the knee injury he picked up last season and will not be available for West Ham’s first home match of the season.

Lineups

West Ham United: Fabianski; Coufal, Dawson, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Rice, Soucek; Bowen, Benrahma, Fornals; Antonio.

Replacements: Yarmolenko, Lanzini, Areola, Noble, Diop, Fredericks, Johnson, Coventry, Baptiste.

Leicester City: Schmeichel; Pereira, Amartey, Soyuncu, Thomas; Tielemans, Ndidi; Perez, Maddison, Barnes; Vardy.

Replacements: Albrighton, Ward, Iheanacho, Choudhury, Dewsbury-Hall, Praet, Castagne, Daka, Soumare.

Reports have emerged that Newcastle United are looking to sign two of Chelsea neglected young defenders, Malang Sarr and Ethan Ampadu

Chelsea are reaching for the stars this season, signing Romelu Lukaku in hopes of getting Premier League silverware and holding onto their Champions League success. To grasp these lofty heights they must lose some dead weight.

Two players that have never featured in a game under Thomas Tuchel and are a part of the Blues’ famed loaning system are Sarr and Ampadu.

Both players spent last year on uninspiring loans at Porto and Sheffield United respectively. Now with Chelsea’s current list of defenders, it seems less likely than ever that these two will get some game time.

Luckily for them, the latest reports claim that Newcastle United are looking for diamonds in Chelsea’s rough. Steve Bruce is looking for young defenders to spruce up his aging defense.

Both players have shown some promising attributes in recent years that would warrant a move to another Premier League club.

The defenders have had tough seasons with Ampadu being relegated with a poor Sheffield United team before being red-carded in his final game of Euro 2020 for Wales.

The French center-back Sarr spent much of last year coming off the bench for Portuguese side Porto. Things got so low for Sarr that he even spent time training with their ‘B’ team.

Despite these terrible spells, Ampadu has played well for teams like RB Leipzig and Crystal Palace while Sarr has shown his quality in the French league.

Newcastle United are not a team rolling in cash at the moment so it is likely that these two may be loaned again. Bruce will need to speed up his decision-making with only two weeks left in the transfer window.

Due to Premier League rules, two players cannot be loaned from one club to another so Newcastle will have to decide to buy one or choose their favourite for a loan.

Newcastle will host David Moyes West Ham United at St.James Park at the opening weekend of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.

This game will mark the return of Premier League football for both Newcastle United and West Hame United

Newcastle United is coming into the game with a lot to prove after another mid-table finish, finishing on a whimper with 45 points, losing 17 games, more than they won (12).

On the other hand, West Ham United overachieved last season, finishing 6th and gaining a Europa League spot for the upcoming season. They will hope to go one step further this term.

Newcastle United Retrospective

Under Steve Bruce, Newcastle has been nothing short of awful to watch. While they did pull off the double over West Ham during last season. The Magpies were miles behind West Ham.

This season, Newcastle’s transfer business has been non-existent, and with the ongoing issue with the potential takeover still a negative cloud over the club.

Reports coming from the UK has reported that Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock will return to the club on a permanent basis after a successful loan last season for a fee in the region of £22-25 million.

Steve Bruce will need a good opening day performance and result to please the vocal Newcastle fans on their return to St.James’ Park.

West Ham United Retrospective

The Hammers enjoyed a surprisingly successful 2020/2021 season, finishing sixth, only missing out on Champions League football by 2 points.

David Moyes has turned a lot of people’s heads, turning West Ham from relegation favourites into European contenders.

Europa League qualification will mean Moyes and co will have to strengthen and keep their prized assists for the upcoming season.

They will hope to keep Declan Rice away from both Chelsea and Manchester United after it was reported he had turned down two contract offers.
