Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane has confirmed that he will stay at the club this summer after Manchester City had several bids for him rejected.

City wanted Kane to replace Sergio Aguero as their number nine after the Argentinian’s departure.

The Spurs striker confirmed his intention to stay at the club on social media on Wednesday morning, ending a long transfer saga.

Kane said on his social media accounts: “It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I’ve had in the last few weeks.

“I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success.”

The 28-year-old made his first appearance of the 2021/22 season against Wolves at the weekend.

The English forward came off the bench for the final 18 minutes of the game and picked up a yellow card in added time.

Kane did not travel to Portugal with his Spurs teammates for their Europa Conference League play-off first leg loss to Pacos de Ferreira.

The decision was made by Kane, manager Nuno Espírito Santo and the club.

This was on the back of his apparent refusal to turn up for pre-season training, with links to Manchester City still arising since last season where the striker contributed to 50 goals in 49 games.

Kane was not involved in his side’s opening day Premier League victory over Manchester City.

Manchester City have had several bids for the striker rejected this summer by Daniel Levy and Pep Guardiola has admitted he is interested in signing the England and Spurs captain.

The news of his non-departure comes as a surprise after everything that took place in the saga.

Kane will line out at White Hart Lane once again this season for Spurs.

Tottenham Hotspur striker and Manchester City target Harry Kane has trained with his Spurs teammates for the first time this season.

He returned to training with the squad after completing a period of isolation and is in line to make his first appearance for the side this week.

Kane had been staying at Spurs’ training ground hotel, The Lodge, after coming back to the UK from his holiday in the Bahamas, via Florida.

His holiday came after a long season for the Englishman that ended with a silver medal at UEFA Euro 2020.

The isolation period meant he was unable to train with his teammates in the lead-up to their Premier League opening weekend win over his potential suitors, Manchester City.

Kane returned to the Enfield Training Centre five days later than expected which sparked rumours that a move elsewhere was imminent.

Kane has told the club that he wants to leave but chairman Daniel Levy has ruled out the sale of the club’s star player, who has three years left on his contract.

Manchester City had a £100 million offer rejected by Tottenham earlier in the summer and are preparing a second bid for the striker.

City are on the search for a new striker after Sergio Aguero left the club this summer.

Brazilian Gabriel Jesus is also on the side’s books but boss Pep Guardiola opted for a false nine approach for much of last season with Aguero injured.

Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva were among the players to don the role in a season in which City dominated the domestic league and reached their first-ever UEFA Champions League final.

Kane’s possible involvement in Spurs’ UEFA Europa Conference league tie with Pacos de Ferreira will not rule him out of any Champions League action this season, should he join a side in the competition.

The transfer window closes in England on Tuesday, August 31 at 11:00 pm and it remains to be seen what ending one of its biggest sagas will have.

Shamrock Rovers have traveled to Albania to face Teuta Durres tonight in the second leg of the Europa Conference League match

The squad got the first half of the job done in Tallaght with a late 1-0 victory thanks to substitute Aidomo Emakhu.

Now preparing in the Stadiumi Niko Dovana, Rovers have a full squad with Neil Farrugia back from injury. Rovers have now won their last six games on the bounce and hope to go another better.

Manager Stephen Bradley spoke about the team’s excitement to play this game in a recent press conference.

“We’re a very experienced group in Europe. We know what it takes. We’ve been together a long time; we’ve played in a lot of big games and played in Europe a lot. So, the players are ready and focused and going into this game in really good form. It’s one we’re really looking forward to,” said Bradley.

Rovers do expect Teuta Durres to be stronger this time, now they are at home but their recent form is not very strong. Although narrowly winning the Albanian league on goal difference, they have only won one of their last five competitive matches.
Another problem for Bradley’s side is acclimatizing to the heat and humidity in such a short space of time. The squad travelled to Albania on Tuesday and had their first try-out on the main pitch yesterday evening.
“There’s no getting away from it, it’s very hot but thankfully by the time kick-off comes around, it’s calmed down quite a bit. We’ll be fine. It is what it is and there’s no excuses. We’ll manage it right and get ready to go with a game plan to win the game,” added Bradley.
The match kicks off at 19:00 tonight, 12th August.

Dundalk came from behind twice against Levadia Tallinn in Tallaght Stadium on Thursday night in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League to ensure an exciting second leg.

It took just 66 seconds for the side to go behind to the 2020-21 Estonian Cup winners, courtesy of a Bogdan Vastsuk strike.

However, Dundalk were level within a minute of play after League of Ireland standout Will Patching put a finishing touch to Dan Kelly’s ball.

Yet, Dundalk continued to struggle to get a grip on the game throughout the early stages and their nervy start allowed Levadia to cause more problems.

Ernest Agyiri looked very dangerous on the left flank after already assisting in the game but their second goal came from another avenue of play.

Zakaria Belgarishvili spotted Vastsuk when he got the ball between the lines and fed the striker, who chipped Alessio Abibi to regain the lead.

Dundalk started to find the desired tempo soon after going behind for a second time.

David McMillan missed a strong chance before taking another one moments later to bring the sides level once again.

Dundalk dominance grew in front of the 1,000 fans in the stadium and some penalty shouts helped to get the crowd louder.

Dundalk continued to impose pressure on the Estonians in the second-half, with Vinny Perth’s side doing all but finishing off plays.

Greg Sloggett’s introduction in place of Wilifred Zahibo gave the FAI Cup champions even more urgency in attack.

However, try as they did, the third goal did not come for the Louth-based side, who now must travel to Tallinn and win to go through.

Dundalk will face Levadia Tallinn at the Le Coq Arena in Estonia’s capital city on Thursday, July 29th at 5:30 pm IST.

Bohemians will take a 1-0 lead into a sold-out Aviva Stadium in Dublin after an impressive victory against F91 Dudelange in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League in Luxembourg.

Kevin Long’s side came into the game as slight favourites with odds of 6/5 and came out of the game the side with the advantage after a goal from Ross Tierney after 15 minutes.

Dawson Devoy was once again too hot to handle for the opposition and shone on a sunny evening, creating the opportunity that Tierney was able to pounce on.

Dudelange were visibly frustrated throughout the game with two yellow cards by the end of the first half.

Bohs, on the other hand, looked comfortable with their one-goal lead.

The home side’s frustration continued in the second half as chances and penalty calls did not go their way at the Stade Jos Nosbaum.

However, the side started to take control of the tie and mount pressure on the visitors.

Players such as Bojic and Van Den Herkhof had chances that they failed to put away, with Bohs continuing to defend.

Substitutions began to happen with goalscorer Tierney coming off in place of Conor Livingston.

The final 10 minutes were tough for the Boh’s men who had to deal with an urgent wave of Dudelange pressure but did their best to stay compact and snuff out the danger.

They survived the onslaught after an extra six minutes were added on and will now take their lead back to Dublin, where 8,000 fans will await them at the Aviva Stadium next week.

However, they will have to avoid defeat to progress in 90 minutes due to the away rule being abolished before this season began.

Bohemians host F91 Dudelange at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin next Thursday for the second leg of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League with kick-off scheduled for 7:45 pm.

Shamrock Rovers ran out 2-1 winners in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League First Qualifying Round tie against Slovan Bratislava but were knocked out of the competition, losing 3-2 on aggregate.

Stephen Bradley’s side needed to overturn a two-goal deficit but failed to progress in front of their fans in Tallaght Stadium.

Rovers started on the backfoot with Bratislava getting the early chances courtesy of Ezekiel Henty but came into the game quickly with Danny Mandriou offering creative ability between the lines.

Graham Burke slotted home a 15th-minute penalty to fuel the belief inside the stadium after being brought down inside the box.

Gary O’Neill, who played Burke through for his chance, was a figure of inspiration in the opening half for Rovers, who prioritised attack throughout the game.

Bratislava struggled to get a foothold after their first 10 minutes and went in at half-time looking very beatable.

Rovers came out in the second half playing with the same intent and came close several times in the first 15 minutes of the half.

Bratislava attempted to sit back and snuff out any chances when Rovers players were in advanced positions but Richie Towell found a way through the sea of dark blue to level the tie.

However, less than ten minutes later, Vladimir Weiss (son and namesake of Slovan Bratislava manager Vladimir Weiss) grabbed the winning goal of the tie and sealed Rovers’ fate.

Shamrock Rovers centre-back Roberto Lopes claimed that he was fouled in the build-up

Lopes came closest to an equaliser but it wasn’t to be for Bradley’s league champions, who brought Aaron Greene on to freshen legs in the attack.

They will now be placed into the draw for the UEFA Europa Conference League Third Qualifying Round having been granted a bye.

The draw will take place next Monday.

Shamrock Rovers: Alan Mannus; Joey O’Brien (Sean Hoare 81), Roberto Lopes, Lee Grace; Ronan Finn, Richie Towell (Aaron Greene 84), Gary O’Neill (Dylan Watts 72), Danny Mandroiu, Liam Scales; Rory Gaffney, Graham Burke.

Slovan Bratislava: Adrián Chovan; Jurij Medveděv, Guram Kashia, Vasil Bozhikov, Vernon De Marco; David Hrnčár (Aleksandar Čavrić 59), Jaba Kankava, Joeri de Kamps (Myenty Abena 90), Rafael Ratão (Jaromír Zmrhal 82); Vladimír Weiss (Alen Mustafić 90); Ezekiel Henty (Rabiu Ibrahim 59).
