Preview
Galway come into this game on the back of a loss to Tipperary last time out. Shane O’Neills charges lost 1-19 to 0-14 at the Gaelic Grounds. They beat Westmeath easily enough in the first game so a win here would be good for the plans to progress to a quarter-final or semi-final of the league. Joe Canning is likely to be fit for the game having picked up a hand injury in that game with Limerick. Players like Gearoid McInerney, Padraic Mannion, Conor Whelan and Cathal Mannion will be key.
All-Ireland champions Tipperary come into the game looking for the first win the of league. They currently sit joint bottom of the table with Westmeath. Liam Sheedy’s side have suffered losses to Cork 2-24 to 1-25 and Limerick 2-14 to 0-18. Sheedy need a performance here from his team and a winning one at that if they have any aspirations of doing well in the league. Players like John McGrath, Ronan Maher, Paidi Maher and Seamus Callanan will once again be key to the Premier men’s chances of coming away from Salthill with the win.

Betting
Galway are 6/5 to win this, while Tipperary are 10/11 to come out on top. For me it’s to close to call but Tipperary need a win and therefore they would be the selection. Jason Forde to get man of the match at around 8/1 is also a good bet. Galway v Tipperary is live on TG4 on Sunday.
